Coughlin Battles to Another Top-15 Finish in Hawkeye State

Cody Coughlin picked up another top 15 finish on Friday night in the M&M’s 200 at Iowa Speedway, his first start at the 7/8-mile oval. Coughlin started 15th and finished 12th in his JEGS.com/RIDE TV Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing.

The Delaware, Ohio native raced in the top 10 for much of Friday’s race before having to pit for an undiagnosed vibration.  The 21-year-old driver said over the radio that he wasn’t sure what was vibrating, but that it was bad enough that he needed to pit.

Coughlin is Going Short Tracking Again in Iowa

Growing up a short tracker means Cody Coughlin has raced at plenty of small tracks throughout the Midwest. As the first driver to ever win the ARCA/CRA Super Series championship and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship in the same year, Coughlin has also won at plenty of races on the short tracks of America.  This weekend, Coughlin will head to a 7/8-mile short track that he’s yet to race on.

Coughlin will pilot the No. 13 JEGS.com/RIDE TV Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing in Friday night’s M&M’s 200 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Iowa Speedway.

Coughlin Rallies to Finish Top 15 at Gateway

Cody Coughlin was knocking on the door of the top 10 in the Drivin’ for Linemen 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park (IL) before a penalty on pit road struck he and his ThorSport Racing team with under 30 laps to go. Coughlin and his team valiantly fought back from a lap down to finish 12th after starting 13th.

The 21-year-old driver raced inside the top 10 for much of Saturday night’s 160-lap race at the 1.25-mile egg-shaped oval just outside of Saint Louis, Missouri. A penalty on pit road put Coughlin a lap down, but he and his team never gave up.

Coughlin Picks Up NASCAR Stage Points in Texas

For much of Friday night’s WinstarOnlineGaming.com 400 Cody Coughlin was showing why he considers Texas Motor Speedway to be one of his favorite race tracks. He showed in the top 10 for much of the race and scored his first stage point of the season before his engine expired with 10 laps to go.

Coughlin had a strong qualifying effort that saw him make the second round of qualifying. He started 11th in his RIDE TV/JEGS.com Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing and finished 18th after his engine let go due to an overheating issue caused by debris.

Throughout history there have been many tales told about normal men facing off against giant beasts and being victorious. On Friday night (June 2), Cody Coughlin has a chance to write his own tale about the time he faced the Monster and conquered it.  That’s when the 21 year-old will take on the Monster Mile of Dover International (DE) Speedway while driving the No. 13 JEGS.com / RIDE TV Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing in the Bar Harbor 200 presented by Sea Watch Int’l for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Coughlin Races In the Top-10 In Heart of Stock Car Country

Cody Coughlin made the FS1 TV broadcasters stand up and take notice at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Commentators noted the fine run the 21 year-old driver was having in Friday’s NC Education Lottery 200 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.  Coughlin was knocking on the door to his first top-10 finish of his NASCAR career until a late-race restart shuffled the field up.  His 16th place finish was not indicative of the fine performance for the entire ThorSport Racing team.
