The son of drag racing legend Jeg Coughlin Jr., Jeg Coughlin III is a champion and successful athlete himself.
Jeg III, or "Jeggie" as he is known, is a stalwart on the Ohio State men's golf team, earning a spot there in part from winning the 2013 Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III golf championship.
Jeggie has tried his hand at drag racing, racing a Junior Dragster under the tutelage of his famous father. But Jeg III realized at a young age he preferred the solitary test of golf.
After a successful prep career, in which he set the OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course high school record of 144 (73-71) in 36 holes of play while winning the '13 state title, Jeg III ended up a Buckeye. It was a huge accomplishment for the young duffer, as the Coughlin family has long been fans of Ohio State.
As a freshman at OSU, Coughlin contributed to 14.5 scores for the Buckeyes, logging a 73.74 stroke average across 23 rounds. He ranked second on the team with four rounds in the 60s and matched the low round of the season (66) at the Boilermaker Invitational. Jeg III also was an OSU Scholar-Athlete for the 2017 season.
