Like most members of the famed Coughlin racing family, Kelly Coughlin loves horsepower, maybe just not the type one may think of when the Coughlin name is bandied about.
The daughter of three-time NHRA Pro Mod world champion Troy Coughlin Sr. loves showing horses. Kelly and older sister Paige have shown horses across the country, and Kelly plans to continue the discipline in 2018.
Kelly trains her championship-level horses at a stable her and her famed grandfather – JEGS High Performance founder Jeg Coughlin Sr. – designed together.
As in drag racing, where the Coughlins do things as a family, showing horses is a family affair as well, with her mom Julie, her dad and her brother Troy Coughlin Jr. attending her events.
Kelly has competed in the Children's Hunter Jumper Small Pony division in AA-rated shows as far away as Florida and New York, and she qualified for the esteemed Pony Finals in Lexington, Ky., which took place in the summer of 2015.
