GLENDORA, Calif. — (Oct. 21, 2010) – NHRA officials announced the 10-race 2011 NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series schedule today, with the addition of the 12th annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, April 1-3, in Las Vegas.

The NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will kick off in Gainesville, Fla.  The schedule includes stops at the first Las Vegas event, Houston, Atlanta, Englishtown, Bristol and Norwalk. The second half of the season will see the 250-mph machines race at the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Charlotte, and conclude at the second Las Vegas event in October.

Once again in 2011, an integral part of the series will be the television coverage provided by ESPN2 HD in 10 half-hour telecasts.

Von Smith and his Barwa Al-Anabi Racing ’68 Camaro team leads the series in 2010 with three victories. Smith is 90 points ahead of Danny Rowe, driver of the Sterling Bridge ’68 Camaro. The battle for the inaugural NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series championship will be decided next weekend at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals (Oct. 28-31).

Due to the popularity of the class, NHRA will be increasing entry quotas from 24 to 26 per event. The elimination rounds will continue to feature 16-car fields, where thanks to the Get Screened America sponsorship, they will compete for world championship points and an overall purse, including event purses and a year-end bonus fund totaling $470,000.

Featuring the world’s fastest and most unique doorslammer cars with an extremely diverse collection of vehicles, including ’63 Corvettes, ’68 Camaros, ’67 Mustangs, ’68 Firebirds as well as late model cars, the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series offers something for every kind of hot-rodding enthusiast.
