A dream will be realized this Friday when Cody Coughlin rolls into the half-mile, high-banked Winchester Speedway this Friday. With an 88-point lead going into the 100-lap season finale on Friday night, Coughlin has a big enough point lead to claim the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour title as soon as he fires his engine.
“It’s exciting, everyone from my family to JEGS Automotive, Inc. is jumping up and down about what will happen on Friday,” Coughlin said. “But for me, we still have work to do, and that is to win this weekend.”
Coughlin will not only be racing in Friday’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event, but he will also be looking to make his first start in the historic Winchester 400 on Sunday afternoon.
“It will be nice to come to the track knowing that we have the title wrapped up in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour that we can also focus on the Winchester 400 on Sunday,” Coughlin explained. “We had a real good test session with both cars on Tuesday and I am very eager to race in both events this weekend.”
The Winchester 400 is the season finale for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. The cars are similar to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour cars but with a lot more horsepower under the hood. Coughlin has competed in some Super Series events this year and has had strong showings.
Coming into this weekend with the championship in hand is a testament to the effort of Coughlin’s Team JEGS crew. The Team JEGS crew consists of Team Manager Kevin Hamlin, Crew Chief Nick Easton, Chassis Consultant Freddie Query, and Crew Members Dave Holt, Jeremy Wilburt and Tony Collier.
“We have such an awesome team and it is a pleasure to be a part of it,” Coughlin said. “All of our hard work has paid off to where we can enjoy this weekend and still hopefully celebrate it in victory lane.
“I also have to thank my parents John & Di for helping me see my dream come true. Their dedication means a lot to me and we all are looking forward to achieving higher goals. My sister Kennedi keeps me motivated and reminds me that this is all about having fun.
“I feel very blessed and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to do this along with the safety and the success we have had so far.”
Coughlin is also eager to meet with the fans at the autograph session this Sunday afternoon starting at 12:30pm.
“Please make sure to stop by and say hello. Who knows what we will have for the fans,” Coughlin said. “I look forward to meeting you all.”
