Cody Coughlin
ARCA/CRA Super Series
Koorsen Fire & Security 125
No. 1 JEGS.com Toyota Camry
The Race
This will be Coughlin’s second start in a Super Late Model in 2017. The race will be 125 laps around the high-banked quarter-mile bullring of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana. Coughlin won twice at Anderson Speedway in 2016, once in a Super Late Model and once in a Pro Late Model.
The Last Race
Cody Coughlin started fourth, but finished 18th after a mechanical failure struck his Toyota Camry early in the 100-lap feature at Toledo Speedway (OH).
The Busy Week
Coughlin’s week is fully loaded as he continues to work at his craft and be the best racer he can be. Coughlin spent Monday and Wednesday at the Toyota Racing simulator in North Carolina, and he hit the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the first time on Tuesday as he prepares for an upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at the 1.5-mile oval later this month. Coughlin’s No. 13 RIDE TV / JEGS.com Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing was one of the fastest trucks during the test.
The Crew
Cody Coughlin’s Team JEGS crew will be led by veteran crew chief and team manager Kevin Hamlin. Hamlin has been a crew chief in the past for drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Sr., Kevin Harvick and Robby Gordon. Hamlin is joined by Terry Cook (spotter), Dave Holt (crew member) and Jon Szitti (crew member).
The Family
Cody is a third-generation race car driver. His family, including his father, John, has been successful in NHRA drag racing for decades. Cody, unlike his family predecessors, chose the path of circle-track racing rather than follow on the straight-line path set forth by the rest of his family. Cody’s mother, Di, and sister, Kennedi, attend Cody’s races in support of their favorite driver.
The Race Track
Anderson Speedway is a quarter-mile oval in Anderson, Indiana, with 17 degrees of banking in the corners. It is the home of the Champion Racing Association Redbud 400 as well as the Little 500, the biggest asphalt Sprint Car race in the world.
