No. 1 JEGS.com Toyota Camry
The Race
Three ARCA/CRA Super Series races remain in 2016. Two of them are at Winchester Speedway, Coughlin’s favorite race track. This go-round is a 100-lap race on Labor Day Monday at the high-banked half-mile in Indiana. The Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver won this race in 2014.
The Last Race
Cody Coughlin started third and finished sixth at the Kalamazoo Klash at Kalamazoo Speedway earlier this month. The top-10 run extended his points lead as he chases the ARCA/CRA Super Series title.
The last scheduled race at Flat Rock Speedway was rained out.
The Title Hunt
Coughlin holds a 13-point lead in the ARCA/CRA Super Series standings with three races left. The last time the 20 year-old raced at Winchester he finished second in the Winchester 400. Coughlin scored a top-10 finish at Lucas Oil Raceway, the only other track left on the schedule aside from Winchester.
The Crew
Cody Coughlin’s Team JEGS crew will be led by first year crew chief Jack Smith. Smith is joined by Kevin Hamlin (team manager), Scott Wimmer (spotter), and Dave Holt (crew member).
The Family
Cody is a third-generation race car driver. His family, including his father, John, has been successful in NHRA drag racing for decades. Cody, unlike his family predecessors, chose the path of circle-track racing rather than follow on the straight-line path set forth by the rest of his family. Cody’s mother, Di, and sister, Kennedi, attend Cody’s races in support of their favorite driver.
The Race Track
The high-banked asphalt ½ mile oval is located on SR 32 in Winchester, Indiana. Winchester Speedway is owned by Charlie Shaw. The seating capacity is 5,000 and an underground walk through tunnel makes commuting from the pits to the grandstands convenient.
