The Race
Three JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour races remain in 2016. The first of those final three is at Michigan’s Owosso Speedway where Coughlin has made one prior start. That start came in 2011 in Coughlin’s rookie year. He started third and finished fifth.
The Last Race
Cody Coughlin set fast time and started fifth on Sunday at Winchester Speedway, but a broken right front wheel ended Coughlin’s race prematurely. Coughlin did win Monday’s ARCA / CRA Super Series event at Winchester Speedway. He is the point leader in each of CRA’s two Late Model series.
The Title Hunt
Coughlin holds a 95-point lead in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competition with three races remaining as he closes in on his second career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship.
The Crew
Cody Coughlin’s Team JEGS crew will be led by first year crew chief Jack Smith. Smith is joined by Kevin Hamlin (team manager), Scott Wimmer (spotter), and Dave Holt (crew member).
The Family
Cody is a third-generation race car driver. His family, including his father, John, has been successful in NHRA drag racing for decades. Cody, unlike his family predecessors, chose the path of circle-track racing rather than follow on the straight-line path set forth by the rest of his family. Cody’s mother, Di, and sister, Kennedi, attend Cody’s races in support of their favorite driver.
The Race Track
Owosso Speedway is a fixture in the Motorsports history books in the great state of Michigan. The 2016 racing season at the Big “O” will be the tracks’ 76th year of operation. The track is currently a 3/8ths mile progressively banked, paved oval with a seating capacity of 3,500 fans.
