Cody Coughlin returned to Toledo Speedway (OH) on Thursday with his Venturini Motorsports team to test for the Menards 200 on Sunday, May 18th. This is the second time in the last four weeks that he has visited half-mile oval.
Last month, the Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver finished seventh at the 7-Up 150 Border Wars Super Late Model event at the track located north of downtown Toledo.
“Our test went very well, I was quite pleased with how our day went,” the Delaware, Ohio driver said. “We found a real good balance on the car. Hopefully we can come back and improve our best finish so far in ARCA competition.”
The Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver recently finished ninth in his second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana.
Coughlin tested his No. 55 JEGS Toyota with Venturini Motorsports teammates Justin Boston and J.J. Haley.
“We all ran very competitive times among the group,” Coughlin said. “Overall, I think the team will be one to watch next weekend.”
It was the first time Coughlin drove a heavier stock car around Toledo Speedway.
“We pretty much ran the same line that I used last month in my Super Late Model,” Coughlin explained. “But you do have to ease in the corners a little easier which I was able to adjust too pretty quickly.”
He is looking forward to racing again at Toledo Speedway.
“I really like the place, wish I could race there more often.”
Coughlin will be on track for practice and qualifying on Saturday, May 17th. The first practice is scheduled from 11:45am – 12:30pm ET. Final practice will take place from 1:00 – 1:45pm. Pole Qualifying will get underway at 3:30pm.
On Sunday, May 18th, Coughlin will meet with fans for an on-track autograph session from 12-1pm ET with the green flag for the Menards 200 at 2pm.
