PLYMOUTH, Ind. (April 21) – JEGS.com Chevrolet driver Cody Coughlin turned in the fastest lap in practice Saturday at Plymouth Speedway as the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers prepare for the season-opening Eric Saunders: I Can I Will 100.
Coughlin had a best lap of 101.910 mph around Plymouth’s .375-mile oval, topping the 34 cars entered.
“I’m excited about our race car here at Plymouth Speedway,” Coughlin said. “The JEGS.com Chevy was extremely fast in qualifying trim and race trim. I really think we have a good piece for qualifying and racing tomorrow. Hopefully, we can get this JEGS.com Chevy up front and stay there.”
The 16-year-old Coughlin also was fast in the four other practice sessions the No. 1 Chevrolet took at the track. He was second-fastest in the first session at 99.837 mph, fourth in the second at 100.446, and second in the final practice the team competed in at 101.657 mph.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars cars ran six separate practices Saturday, but crew chief Butch VanDoorn decided to skip the last two, satisfied his adjustments made the car go faster.
The 100-lap main event is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, as Plymouth Speedway begins its feature races at 2:30 p.m Eastern.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars cars have two practices Sunday, the first from 11:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, with the second from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.. Qualifying for the All-Stars Tour cars is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
