After a week off, Cody Coughlin is itching to get back behind the wheel of his JEGS.com/RIDE TV Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing, and he’ll do so where it all began. In 2015, Coughlin made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Kentucky Speedway. On Thursday night, Coughlin will make his 22nd career NCWTS start in the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225.

Kentucky Speedway was recently repaved since Coughlin’s last race at the track. Gone are the bumps that the facility was famous for. Coughlin and his team will have three practice sessions on Wednesday to figure out the track and get a good handle on their Tundra for Thursday night’s race.

“I’ve been looking forward to getting back to the intermediate tracks like Kentucky. This place will always be kind of special because it’s where I made my series debut. I know they repaved it since the last time I was there, so we’ll just have to figure things out in practice.”

The biggest need for Coughlin is track time. Even though he has a full race under his belt at Kentucky, he doesn’t have much track time.

“Hopefully I’ll get plenty of laps on the track before the race. Last time I was here practice was cancelled because of rain so my first lap in a truck here was when they threw the green flag. That was an interesting experience. Hopefully with time to learn the track on Wednesday we’ll dial in our Toyota Tundra for Thursday night and get a good run.”

Coughlin’s race “weekend” actually takes place mid-week for this event as practice will be on Wednesday afternoon and the race will take place on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old driver will hit the track for the first of three practice sessions on Wednesday at noon eastern time. Final practice will begin at 4 p.m. ET.

Thursday, July 6 is race day at Kentucky Speedway. Coughlin will qualify for the race at 5 p.m. ET live on FOX Sports 1. The Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 will see the green flag wave at 7:30 p.m. live on FOX Sports 1.

Thursday night’s race is 150 laps for a distance of 225 miles. The race is broken up into three stages. The first two stages are 35 laps each with the final stage distance set at 80 laps.

Race fans will also have the chance to meet Cody Coughlin on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Toyota Pit Pass display in the Fan Zone.
