COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jeg Coughlin wrapped up his weekend at the Pontiac Performance Nationals on Sunday with a quarterfinal finish in Stock Eliminator. Coughlin, who was racing in the Stock class for the first time in his career, lost when opponent Steve McFarland made a nearly perfect run against him.

“My run was good, but his run was much better,” said Coughlin, who was driving a Chevy Nova belonging to former Super Comp champ Steve Cohen. “Obviously I would like to have parked that Nova in the winner’s circle, but overall I was pretty happy with the whole weekend. I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot about racing in Stock Eliminator. They might not be the fastest cars out here, but the competition is intense. Some of the best drivers I’ve seen are racing in Stock.

“I need to thank Steve Cohen for giving me the opportunity to race his car,” Coughlin continued. “I also want to thank all of our associates at Jeg’s Mail Order for the support they give me and my brothers this weekend.”

Troy, John, and Mike Coughlin also raced in various sportsman eliminators in Columbus but were eliminated during Saturday’s opening elimination rounds.

Following his loss, Jeg Coughlin made an appearance on the ESPN2 television coverage of the event. The former two-time Pro Stock champion provided color commentary during the second round of Pro Stock eliminations.
