NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 18) – Cody Coughlin will start the No. 1 JEGS.com Chevrolet from the No. 1 position in Saturday’s rain-delayed Pro Late Model race at New Smyrna Speedway as part of the 46th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.
Friday’s 25-lap Pro Late Model race was postponed because of rain in the Central Florida area.

The Delaware, Ohio-based Coughlin posted the second-fastest time in Friday’s first practice around the half-mile New Smyrna track, before then rain shortened the second practice to 10 minutes. Coughlin was also second-fastest in that session.
Overall, Coughlin posted the fourth-fastest time in qualifying of 18.121 seconds.
“Except for the rain, I am very pleased with how the day went today,” Coughlin said. “It was a very successful day and I’m excited to get into tomorrow and get our first race of 2012 under way.”
Friday kicked off a week’s worth of racing for the World Series, run in conjunction with NASCAR’s Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. Coughlin is working with crew chief Butch VanDoorn for the first time this week.
“We had a very successful day,” VanDoorn said, “and I am happy that we have something to build off of.”
