October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Cody Coughlin is doing his part to help raise awareness for the disease that affects so many in America.

The 20-year-old delivered care packages recently to clients at the Solis Mammography Center in Columbus, Ohio.

"Breast cancer is something that affects so many people," said Coughlin, a Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver and duel Champion Racing Association Late Model champion in 2016.  "We like to do these things to help because this is a great cause.  We try to lift their spirits and help them out a bit, because they may be feeling nervous as they have these tests.  We want them to know they're not alone."

More than 200 gift packages, all containing pink items, were given to patients at the Solis Mammography Center.  The employees of Solis always handle clients with professional care, but on this day, the clients were very touched and appreciated the kind gesture.  This is the second year Coughlin has provided the center with the special pink awareness bags.

"The gift package hopefully picked up some spirits on that day,” said Coughlin, whose race cars in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Late Models have both featured a pink-numbered JEGS.com scheme.

"My parents, John and Di, raised me to want to help others, even in small ways.  God has blessed us in so many ways, so we try to give back when we can.  This is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, so we do what we can to help out."

This all started with the JEGS Foundation, and the work it has done to raise money for cancer research.  The Coughlin family's personal experiences with cancer drove them to assist in building awareness of the many faces of cancer and help generate dollars through race earnings to advance cancer research.

The JEGS Foundation "Racing for Cancer Research" helps advance cancer research and build awareness. The motto "Racing for Cancer Research" was coined because of the donations generated by race and corporate earnings.  The Coughlin family features the JEGS Racing for Cancer Research ribbon on all race cars and uniforms to raise cancer awareness. The ribbon may be a simple symbol, but it displays a meaningful sentiment.

The JEGS Foundation "Racing for Cancer Research" is honored to be affiliated with one of only 39 nationally-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
