CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 17) — Jason Beam has been working with Pro Stock ace Jeg Coughlin Jr. for several years and wanted to make a contribution to JEGS 50th anniversary celebrations.

So, Beam, owner of BEAM Designs, did what he does best, put brush to helmet to come up with a new design for Coughlin, driver of the JEGS.com Chevy Cobalt.

“We began researching archive photos of JEGS company and past JEGS sponsored cars, and also the uniqueness of the entire Coughlin family’s involvement in the business and racing,” Beam said. “We began piecing the images together and also incorporated some elements that Jeg has liked over the years on his helmets.

“With today’s technology and our creative juices we were able to portray a really nice piece, that we felt gave tribute to the family and JEGS company history.”

Beam said he finished the design off with gold leaf to tie in with JEGS golden anniversary. Coughlin started wearing the new helmet at this weekend’s NHRA National event at zMax Dragway.

“We have close to 23 hands on hours into this helmet for Jeg,” Beam said. “I have to thank Jeg first of all for letting us be creative, and my team here at the paintshop for making this a very unique piece.”
