ATCO, N.J. (Aug. 9) – After a successful weekend at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex that included a Gambler’s Race victory, Troy Coughlin Jr. and the JEGS Mail Order team are making their way to historic Atco Dragway in New Jersey for this weekend’s AA Auto Salvage Super Bucks Weekend presented by JEGS.

Coughlin returns as a defending champion, having claimed a $25,000 victory at the 2011 Super Bucks event.

“I had a lot of fun last weekend and more importantly, I gained a lot of confidence when I won that Gambler’s race,” Coughlin said. “When things are going well, you want to keep going so we decided to head for Atco and see if we can win again. Last year, I won what is still one of the biggest races of my career here and I’d love to do it again.”

Coughlin will have multiple chances to repeat his impressive 2011 performance as the AA Auto Salvage Super Bucks Weekend features three separate $25,000 races as well as a host of companion events that offer generous payouts. The event, which is being contested over a 1,000-foot course, is one of the premiere high stakes E.T. bracket races on the East Coast and as such, the level of competition is intense.

“Just like last year, I’m going into this race with my eyes wide open,” Coughlin said. “I know how tough it is out here. It’s tough everywhere but the East Coast racers really seem to have it together. Anytime you come to a place like Atco, you know you’re going to have your hands full, and you absolutely need to bring your A-game.”

JEGS Mail Order teammate Kenny Underwood will be Coughlin’s wingman for the Atco race. Underwood is one of the sport’s most accomplished E.T. bracket racers and has a long and successful history at big money events. His experience has proven to be invaluable to his young protégé, who also will benefit from the help of JEGS crew chief Jay Schroeder.

“Kenny, Jay, and I have been racing together all summer and we make a pretty good team,” Coughlin said. “We all think alike so when it comes to making decisions, we usually agree. When you have that kind of cooperation it is so much easier to just concentrate on driving, which is the key to success in any race.”
