Columbus is the home base for Team Jeg’s and they have enjoyed some of their most successful weekends there.

Jeg Coughlin won his first NHRA national event here in 1990, claiming the Super Gas title at the age of 19. He has since posted two other victories there, including the Super Stock title in 1996 and a Pro Stock win in 1998.

Troy Coughlin made his Pro Stock debut in Columbus in 1994, becoming the first of the four Coughlin brothers to race at a professional level. That year, he qualified ninth and lost to Bob Glidden in round one.

Troy reached the final of the 1997 Columbus race, defeating Mark Pawuk and Jim Yates before receiving a bye run into the final.

Troy has qualified seven times in nine attempts in Columbus and has never been ranked lower than tenth.

In 1998, in his 13th start as a professional, Jeg Coughlin qualified 13th and won his third Pro Stock race. He beat Ron Krisher, Troy Coughlin, Mike Thomas and Jim Yates.

Jeg has qualified all six times he’s raced Pro Stock in Columbus. In addition to his win in 1998, he has a runner-up finish in 1999 and a pair of semifinal showings. His win loss record is 12-5.
