JEG’S Mail Order
Jeg Coughlin – Pro Stock
Pre Race Release

Jeg Coughlin is hoping for a visit from Lady Luck this weekend as the POWERade tour returns to Las Vegas for the sixth annual NHRA Summit Racing.com Nationals.

Four races into his season, Jeg is a solid eighth in the championship standings. His Jeg’s Mail Order Dodge Stratus R/T has been performing better each weekend as the newly-formed Don Schumacher Racing Pro Stock group continues to come together.

In the last three events, Jeg has raced to one semifinal, one first-round, and one quarterfinal finish. On each of those occasions, the three-time NHRA champion showed the potential to go further, which is one of the main reasons he’s excited about Vegas.

“We’ve been working towards having a consistent racecar and I think we’ve made great strides in that direction,” Jeg said. “We made six great runs last weekend in Houston and the team chemistry is really coming together. Once the whole program reaches the same level it’s not going to be good for the others in this class.

“When this team was formed six months ago, the first thing [crew chief] Bob Glidden said was that we probably wouldn’t be where we wanted to be when I dropped the clutch for the first time in Pomona. Building a team from nothing takes time and we all realize that. Even so, I think we’re all extremely excited about the possibilities.”

Jeg was within one-thousandth of a second of reaching the final in Phoenix, had a quicker car than Jim Yates in Gainesville, and was just a few feet behind Jason Line in Houston, all of which has him brimming with hope.

“The oddsmakers have us at 12-to-1,” said Jeg, a three-time Vegas winner. “I think a bet on ‘old yeller’ (his car) might pay off. When you look at the numbers, this car is always close to the top of the charts. If the driver can pull through, I like our chances.”
