>>>Jeg Coughlin is the defending Pro Stock champion at the Lucas Oil Nationals. He defeated Greg Anderson in the final round to earn his milestone 50th NHRA national event title.

>>>Jeg set low elapsed time of the event at the 2007 Brainerd event, setting the track record with a 6.659 in the second round of eliminations. Jeg has set low E.T. of the event 19 times in his career.

>>>Jeg has also scored Pro Stock wins at Brainerd in 1999 and 2002. In 1999, he defeated Warren Johnson in the final and in 2002, he beat Greg Anderson. Jeg was also the runner-up in Brainerd during the 2000 season.

>>>In nine career appearances at Brainerd Int’l Raceway, Jeg has a career round win record of 18-6 in Pro Stock competition.

>>>As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the Super Stock title in Brainerd in 1997, beating his then teammate Jeff Taylor in an all-JEGS Mail Order final round.

>>>Jeg’s best qualifying position in Brainerd is third in 1999. He has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field five times at Brainerd Int’l Raceway and his average qualifying position is No. 8.

>>>Jeg is currently ranked fourth in the Pro Stock standings. He is 46 points behind third place Kurt Johnson.

>>>Jeg has won at least one NHRA national event title at 21 different facilities including Brainerd Int’l Raceway. He has won at every current venue on the tour except for Norwalk (and the new z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, which has yet to host an NHRA POWERade Series event.)

>>>In 15 events this season, Jeg has a win, three runner-ups, and three semifinal finishes to his credit. His round win record is 23-13.

>>>During his career, Jeg has appeared in 82 final rounds, 64 as a professional and 18 as a sportsman racer.

>>>Jeg needs only to qualify in Brainerd to lock up his spot in the Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s six race playoff which determines the POWERade champions. The field of ten drivers will be set at the conclusion of the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, August 27-September 1.

>>>With 39 Pro Stock wins, Jeg is the fourth most successful driver in the history of the class. He trails only Warren Johnson (96), Bob Glidden (85), and Greg Anderson (56) in wins.

>>>After qualifying No. 6 at the most recent event in Sonoma, Calif., Jeg is currently ranked sixth in the standings for the K&N Horsepower Challenge, a special $50,000 to win Pro Stock event that is held each year in Norwalk. Drivers qualify for the elite 8-car K&N Horsepower Challenge field by earning points during qualifying for each of the previous 23 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events.
