Jeg Coughlin enters this weekend’s Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol as the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock points leader following his recent victory at the NHRA event in Madison, Ill. Jeg currently has a 49-point lead over second-place Jason Line.

Jeg is off to one of the best starts of his career in 2009, having won three of the first seven races. In addition to his victories in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Madison, he was also a runner-up in Atlanta and Houston.

Jeg has won 20 of a possible 28 eliminations rounds thus far in 2009 and is one of just four NHRA pros, along with Top Fuel drivers Antron Brown and Tony Schumacher, and Pro Stock racer Jason Line, without a first-round loss this season.

In seven career appearances at Bristol Dragway, Jeg has a 7-5 round win record in Pro Stock competition.

His other titles came in 2000 and 2002. As a sportsman racer, Jeg also captured the Super Gas championship in 1992 at the age of 22.

In 243 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 73 times, recording 44 wins. Including his 13 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 57 times, tying him with Greg Anderson and Joe Amato for tenth place on NHRA’s all time wins list.

Jeg is currently ranked No. 6 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 27. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.
