Jeg Coughlin won his first Pro Stock event at Houston Raceway Park in 1997. In just his second start as a pro, Coughlin qualified No. 14 and reached the final round where he defeated Mark Osborne.
Jeg also collected Pro Stock wins at Houston Raceway Park in 1998 and 2000. In 1998, he defeated Tom Martino in the final and in 2000, he beat Jim Yates.
Jeg enters this weekend’s event at Houston Raceway Park ranked third in the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock standings. In three starts this year, he has a win, and two quarterfinal finishes. Jeg’s round win record thus far in 2009 is 6-2.
Jeg Coughlin is the reigning NHRA Pro Stock champion. He has earned four NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series titles in his career, including back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. His other titles came in 2000 and 2002.
With 42 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (96), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (57) have more titles.
In 14 career appearances at Houston Raceway Park, Jeg has a win-loss record of 23-11 in Pro Stock competition.
Jeg qualified No. 1 at the 1997 Houston event with a 6.649-second elapsed time.
As a sportsman racer, Jeg won the Super Stock title at the 1994 Slick 50 Nationals in Houston.
Jeg is currently qualified sixth for the K&N Horsepower Challenge, a special eight-car invitational event which is held each June in Norwalk, Ohio at pays $50,000 to the champion.
In 239 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 69 times, recording 42 wins.
