Team JEG’S – Pro Stock
Jeg Coughlin
Pre Race

Jeg Coughlin, Jr is currently in the No. 4 position in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock championship with 19 races remaining. His best finish so far this season has been a runner up at the Mac Tools Gatornationals.

“We are going in the right direction,” said Jeg. “Our entire group has been putting in a lot of dedicated hours at the shop and at the track. We have spent a lot of time as a group evaluated where we are and where we need to be. The most important thing is that we have a solid plan going forward and our entire group is committed to the plan as a team.”

Jeg has a total of 45 career wins and ranks 10th on the all-time NHRA win list. He has won 33 races in Pro Stock, 7 in Super Stock, 4 in Super Gas and 1 in Competition Eliminator. In addition, he won the 1992 NHRA championship in Super Gas and has brought home two professional titles (2000 & 2002) in Pro Stock.

The 33-year old second generation driver holds the longest active qualifying streak in NHRA’s most competitive professional class at 40 straight events. The last race Jeg failed to qualifying at was in 2002 at the first of two races held annually at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL.

Jeg is no stranger to having success at Houston Raceway Park and will be looking for that familiar feeling again this year. In fact, he scored his first professional victory in Pro Stock in only his second race behind the wheel of a factory hot rod in 1997.

“Houston Raceway Park will always be a special place for me to race at,” explained Jeg. “I won my first race in Pro Stock at the track and I would like nothing more than to win my first race of the 2004 season at Houston Raceway Park. We are really looking forward having a productive weekend. Coming to a sea-level track is always a plus and it creates a lot of additional excitements for the fans.”

SUMMARY OF LAST FOUR EVENTS:

Jeg has earned 237 points thru the first four events of the 2004 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season. He will enter the fifth race of 2004 NHRA season in the No. 4 position with 19 races remaining. The 33-year old has qualified for all four events contested (No. 7, No. 3, No. 3 and No. 11) and has been in the top-half of the field three of the four times to start race day with lane choice.
