Friday Qualifying Summary
Jeg and his yellow and black Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier landed in the No. 7 qualifying position after the first of two scheduled days of qualifying.
In the opening qualifying session Jeg laid down a run of 6.853 at 201.19 mph. He was the fifth quickest and the third fastest of the first session.
Jeg rolled into the second qualifying session looking to improve over his previous run. The two-time NHRA Pro Stock champion fell a little short on his second run, but continued to look strong. He posted a run of 6.859 at 200.29 mph.
“Our first run was pretty solid and gave us a good baseline to start the weekend,” said Coughlin. “We got a little aggressive down low during our second run. I am confident will take what we learned today and move forward tomorrow. Our entire team is very upbeat and looking forward to having a successful weekend here at the O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.”
There are two remaining qualifying session tomorrow (Saturday) before the field is set. The final two qualifying sessions are schedule for 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM (ET) respectively.
