Team JEG’S – Pro Stock
Jeg Coughlin
Saturday Qualifying Summary

Jeg Coughlin and his yellow and black Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier continued to show strength on the final day of qualifying for the Mac Tools Gatornationals. The two-time Pro Stock champion posted a disappointing run of 6.841 at 203.16 mph in the third session and he stayed in the No. 2 position.

The team made an engine change for the final session and answered the critics by laying down a run of 6.785 at 202.74 mph. The run the Jeg’s Mail Order machine made was the second quickest of the session and gave the team some added confidence going into race day.

Ultimately Jeg landed in the No. 3 spot and will have lane choice over Barry Grant in the opening round.

“We made solid runs right out of the trailer this weekend,” said Jeg. “This class is so cutthroat that every run counts. To make good solid runs right out of the trailer helps you to fine tune the set up for the weekend. We left a lot on the table in the final session and now we can go into race day armed with great data on our new engine that can put this Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier in the winner’s circle at the Mac Tools Gatornationals.”

A Coughlin has been in the final round in Pro Stock at the Mac Tools Gatornationals since 2000. Troy was a runner-up in 2002 and Jeg chalked up a win in 2001. Jeg is coming off of back-to-back runner up finishes in 2002 and 2003. The 33-year old second generation driver would like nothing more than to take it one step further and score his first win of the 2004 this weekend.
