Jeg Coughlin
Friday Qualifying Summary

After two of the four scheduled qualifying sessions at the NHRA O’Reilly Summer Nationals Jeg Coughlin is sitting in the No. 21 spot at a 6.944 at 198.85 mph.

The Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier posted a run of 6.944 at 198.76 mph in the opening qualifying session. Coughlin landed in the No. 14 position by the close of the session.

“We made a last minute engine change after having a problem during our warm up,” explained Coughlin. “The guys did a great job working together to get another engine in the car from under the bench and be able to make the run. We knew how important it was to make a run and start gathering data. We left a lot on the table down low. “

In the second session the team was looking to improve after a disappointing opening run. Coughlin crossed the finish line beams next to his brother Troy and posted the same time as the run before. Jeg ran a 6.944 at 198.85 mph and slipped to the No. 21 position.

“The car launched and just felt like we dropped a couple hundred rpm’s instantly,” said Coughlin. “We will look over everything and come out swinging tomorrow (Saturday)! We were in this position last weekend and we have the best group guys in our corner to get the job done.”

There are two remaining qualifying sessions that will be held tomorrow (Saturday) before the field is set for race day. The sessions are scheduled for 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM respectively.
