Drag racing legend and high performance parts magnate Jeg Coughlin Sr. was inducted into Don Garlits’ International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Thursday night before a packed house at the University of Florida Hilton. Presented for induction by auto racing announcer extraordinaire Marty Reid, Coughlin was joined on stage by his four sons and step-daughter, and was cheered on by a mass of family and friends that made the trip from Delaware, Ohio, for the special occasion.

As usual, Coughlin was quick to defer to others for his success in racing and business and spoke at length of the great pride he has in his family, who now run JEGS Automotive, and his ever-expanding gaggle of grandchildren, many of whom have followed his lead into motorsports.

He also told funny stories from the early days when his father questioned his initial foray into a parts business that now grosses more than $210 million a year and employs 350 associates.

The entire event was captured by Don Lee and the crew from the Horizons Companies, who have made a video for Coughlin’s fans at http://www.youtube.com/user/jegsvideos
