Jeg Coughlin
Saturday Qualifying Summary

Jeg Coughlin continued to show strength on the final day of qualifying. The 33-year old 45-time NHRA national event winner posted a run of 6.751 at 205.51 mph during the third qualifying session. He posted the fourth quickest run of the session and was No. 2 in speed. In fact, the 205.51 mph run was the fastest run Jeg has made in his career at a NHRA national event.

“We are making solid runs and we still have room to improve,” said Jeg. “We made two changes to our set up for the third qualifying session and the car responded well.”

The final qualifying session gave teams a look at what to expect for conditions on race day. Jeg launched from the starting line and the car immediately went sideways and Jeg was forced to shut off.

“We thought we would see how aggressive we could get with the track during the last qualifying session,” said Jeg. “Obviously, we went too far and we were just flat out too aggressive for the conditions we had. I think we are armed with a lot of solid data going into race day and we will be a threat to win.”

In the opening round Jeg will face off against Bruce Allen. The match up will put a Chevy Cavalier and Pontiac Grand Am head-to-head.
