Team JEG’S – Pro Stock
Jeg Coughlin, Jr
Saturday Qualifying Summary

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. and his yellow and black Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy cavalier will start race day from the No. 9 position. His best qualifying effort of the weekend was a 6.801 at 203.34 mph, which he posted in the third qualifying session.

The third qualifying session was held in the morning at 10:00 AM (PT) local time and gave the factory hot rods the best conditions of the weekend so far. Coughlin went right to work and posted run of 6.801 at 203.34 mph. The run was an improvement and he slipped to the No. 9 position.

“We were light down-low in the third session,” explained Coughlin. “We are getting from A-to-B a little better this weekend. We have plenty of room for improvement and we are taking things one-step at a time. We will just have to get it together and keep trying to move forward.”

In the final qualifying session Coughlin walked ESPN viewers through the complete burnout process using the in-car camera and on board radio. He made a run of 6.904 at 202.06 mph to end qualifying. The run was not an improvement, but the team is more optimistic going into race day.

“We wanted to try something new for the fans watching on ESPN and put them a little closer to the action,” said Coughlin. “Now we will focus on be a threat on race day tomorrow.”

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. will face off against Jason Line in the opening round. The match will put a Chevy Cavalier against a Pontiac Grand Am.
