Cody Coughlin’s racing career is about to take a big turn this weekend as he will make his third ARCA Racing Series start of 2015 behind the wheel of the No. 55 JEGS.com Toyota for Venturini Motorsports.  That big turn will be a right turn, along with some left turns, as he will make his first road course start in his young racing career at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey.

Fresh off his second place finish at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, his best finish to date in ARCA Racing Series competition, the Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver hopes to score his first win in his first road course event.

“I’m excited about it.  We had a good training session in Phoenix, Arizona,” exclaimed Coughlin.  “I think we will be very competitive at New Jersey.  I am really looking forward to adding this to my racing resume.”

The 19-year-old from Delaware, Ohio recently traveled to Arizona and participated in a training session at the Bondurant/Chris Cook Performance Stock Car School.

He was able to have one-on-one coaching in a car that is similar to the ARCA Racing Series machine he will be driving this Sunday.

“That was valuable for me to prepare for this race,” explained Coughlin.  “The car felt like the ones I am used to racing in the ARCA Racing Series.  It was an intense day of training where I got some open track time to learn how to lead and follow cars around the track.”

Coughlin is not the only person eager to head out to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend.  He will be joined by his family, which includes his parents, John & Di, and his sister, Kennedi.  Also joining the family in the Garden State will be Team JEGS crewmembers Kevin Hamlin (Team Manager), Scott Wimmer (Spotter) and Dave Holt (Crew member).

“This is a big step in my racing career and I am grateful that my family, friends and team will be there to share the experience with me,” said Coughlin.  “It would be awesome to get a win in my first road course start.

“Also, I want to praise God for what he has done in my life to bring me to this moment in my career.  He has blessed us all with the great things we have done and can do in our lives.  I can’t wait to see what he has planned next for all of us.”

Coughlin will make his first laps around New Jersey Motorsports Park on Saturday, May 23rd with a one-hour practice session from 10:55 – 11:55am.  The final practice is scheduled from 12:55pm – 2:25pm.  Qualifying is scheduled for 4:15pm.

On Sunday, May 24th, fans will get a chance to meet the Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver during an autograph session from 12:30 – 1:15pm Eastern Time.  The green flag for the ARCA 150 will wave at 1:30pm.
