Team Jeg’s – Pre Race Release
John Coughlin – Super Stock
Troy Coughlin – ProMod
Mike Coughlin – Super Comp
Jeg won’t be the only Coughlin racing this weekend in the NHRA. While he competes in the wine country, brothers John, Troy and Mike will represent the family at the Jeg’s NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, just outside Columbus. This is the hometown track for Jeg’s Mail Order Racing.
John will be one of the favorites in the Super Stock category after qualifying No. 1 and being among the final five cars in the crowded class at the Div. 3 race in the Windy City.
“You always want to win at your home track,” said John. “We are really excited for this event as a family and a company. It’s a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our customers in a fun and memorable way.”
Troy will look to score the second win of the season behind the wheel of the Jeg’s Mail Order Ford Mustang in ProMod this weekend. His first victory was in Englishtown, NJ on Father’s day and he has proven to be threat on race day since scoring that memorable victory.
“The pressures of racing an event at your home track are not uncommon for our family,” said Troy. “I believe it makes you dig deeper inside and makes winning even more special. When you can be in the winner’s circle with your family, friends and all of the associates of Jeg’s Mail Order – that’s what it’s all about.”
After winning the Super Comp class at the Jegs.com NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals in Belle Rose, La., earlier this year, Mike is one a seven racers eligible for the coveted Jeg’s Crown trophy should he double-up and win this weekend’s race. That win wasn’t his only victory of the year. He recently won the Division 3 race at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago.
“We have some good momentum going into the Jeg’s Northern SPORTSnationals as a team right now and it’s a good time to have it,” stated Mike. “Being eligible to win the Jeg’s Crown trophy is really cool. The trophy has been in Woody’s (PR and motorsports director) office since after the Jeg’s Cajun SPORTSnationals. Each of the seven eligible winners already have a name plate made that bolts right on to the trophy. Woody even showed me the trophy with my name plate on it. It’s an honor to be running for the Jeg’s Crown, but it would be a dream to win it.”
