Salem, IN (September 1, 2021) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will resume their 25th Anniversary Season Presented by Team Construction this coming Sunday in the King of the Highbanks 150 Presented by JEGS on the historic High Banks of Winchester Speedway, located in Winchester, Indiana as part of the Vore’s Welding & Steel King of the Highbanks Weekend. This event is the rescheduled Fly Over States 150 that was originally supposed to take place in May. Sunday’s event will be a warmup for the upcoming 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 that will take place on Sunday, October 17th.
The King of the Highbanks 150 green flag laps that will pay $10,000 to win. The event will feature Controlled Cautions in an effort to save teams the cost of bringing in professional pit crews. When a yellow comes out teams will have two laps to service their race car without losing laps or positions on pit road. Those cars will then line up behind the cars that did not pit at that yellow. Teams not getting out of the pits in the two laps will have to fall to the tail of the field.
Kody Swanson picked up his first ever series win in the ARCA/CRA Super Series 2021 season opener at Salem Speedway on April 25th. Carson Kvapil got his first ever series win in the series second event of the season, the North/South Super Late Model Challenge at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on May 8th. 2019 series Champion Greg Van Alst made it three new series winners in a row with his win in the series third event of the season at Anderson Speedway on May 22nd. Carson Hocevar got the win in the fourth series event of the season, the special non-points Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway. Hocevar then got his first series points win of the season in the series fifth event of 2021 at Flat Rock Speedway on June 19th. Kyle Crump picked up the win at the Redbud 400 on July 12th and went to victory lane again at the series Battle at Berlin 150 at Berlin Raceway on August 21st.
Hunter Jack comes into Sunday’s King of the Highbanks 150 as the series points leader, he was the series Regular Season Champion after the Redbud 400 event and is one of the four Chase for the Championship drivers who will race for the series Championship at the Winchester 400. The other Chase drivers include Crump, Scotty Tomasik and 2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin. All four Chase for the Championship drivers are entered for Sunday’s King of the Highbanks 150, with Coughlin the only one of the four who has a series win on the High Banks, Crump finished second in last season’s Winchester 400.
2019 Winchester 400 winner Stephen Nasse is entered for Sunday’s King of the Highbanks 150, it will be his first visit to Winchester with his own team that he started earlier this season. The current Southern Super Series points leader looks to grab the $10,000 first place money and get his car dialed in for the Winchester 400 in October.
Current ARCA East points leader and 2021 three-time event winner Sammy Smith is entered. Smith picked up a big late model win earlier this month with the CARS Super Late Model Tour at Jennerstown Speedway. Smith hopes to gain experience so he can better his sixth-place finish in last year’s Winchester 400.
Other top CRA drivers entered for Sunday’s race include series all-time starts leader and a former series winner at Winchester Rick Turner, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Winchester event winner Mason Keller, Albert Francis, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Winchester winner J.P. Crabtree, and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock Winchester event winner Colby Lane.
Michigan driver Brandon Varney is entered to make his series 2021 debut. Varney was a two-time winner with the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman at Anderson Speedway in 2020 and made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Winchester Speedway on July 31st where he got a sixth-place finish and followed that up with a 10th place finish at the ARCA Menards Series event at Michigan International Speedway on August 20th.
Florida teenager Jake Finch is entered to make his ARCA/CRA Super Series and Winchester Speedway debut. Finch is the son of long-time NASCAR car owner and sponsor James Finch. Finch has been winning races at Five Flags Speedway in their Sportsman division while also getting experience in selected Super Late Model events throughout the South.
Things will kick off for the ARCA/CRA Super Series on Saturday with two 30-minute Super Late Model Lightning Open Practice Sessions. The top 3 times in the Lightning Rounds will pay bonus money. On Sunday pits open at 11:30am. The first of two 30-minute practice sessions for the series will begin at 2pm. Hamke Race Cars Qualifying will begin at 4:30pm. There will be an autograph session in the track Midway at 5pm. The race program will begin at 6pm with the Van Hoy Oil Street Stocks 40-lap feature followed by the King of the Highbanks 150 Presented by JEGS. Fireworks by Scarette Pyrotechnics will be featured after the night’s racing action.
