The 20th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals has been postponed until the weekend of Oct. 8-10, when it will be run in its entirety. Massive flooding brought on by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan left Maple Grove Raceway flooded out and a continued strong band of thunderstorms forced NHRA and track officials to make the call.

This weekend’s schedule, which called for professional qualifying sessions at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, as well as an 11 a.m. start of eliminations Sunday, will be followed on the weekend of Oct. 8-10. “This is very unfortunate but we must race in the safest conditions possible for both our fans and competitors,” said Graham Light, NHRA’s senior V.P. of racing operations.
