DELAWARE, Ohio (Sept. 20) ‑ Jeg’s Automotive will present the inaugural Jeff McPherson Memorial Trophy to the winner of the Two-Wheel Drive Super Modified class tractor-pulling event Sept. 25 at the Delaware County Fair. McPherson, a Jeg’s Mail Order tech for 16 years and partner in a two-man tractor-pulling team with his father Dick, was tragically killed in an auto accident on August 8, 2003.
The American Tractor Pullers Association (ATPA) has agreed to bring their two-day world championship of high-revving, dirt-churning horsepower to coincide with the premier event in harness racing, the world-renowned Little Brown Jug. Both events will be nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN2.
The Delaware County Fair has been extended two days to accommodate the ATPA’s world championships. Unlimited Super Stock, Super Farm Tractors, and 4X4 Trucks will be featured Friday, Sept. 24, while 10,000-pound Pro Stock, Modified Tractors, and Two-Wheel Drive Trucks will take center stage Saturday, Sept. 25. The action begins at 7 p.m. both days, with Saturday designated as Jeg’s Automotive Fair Day.
In addition to presenting the Jeff McPherson Memorial Trophy, Jeg’s Automotive will have an area by the main gate promoting it’s “Racing for Cancer Research” foundation and featuring the 2002 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock world championship-winning Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier.
