The city of Darlington, South Carolina, just drips with motorsports history so it was fitting on a number of levels that John Coughlin scored his first national event victory there when he won the IHRA’s Quick Rod class in 1984 at the tender age of 20.

The oldest of Jeg Coughlin Sr.’s four sons, John was the first to follow his Hall of Fame father into drag racing, and the other family business, JEGS Mail Order. Not surprisingly, he’s excelled in both entities, as witnessed by his lengthy racing resume and the steady success of JEGS Mail Order.

Since that first win in Darlington, John has captured victories in Pro Stock Truck, Super Gas, Super Stock, and Top Dragster. He also has earned four Divisional championships, two each in Super Gas and Top Dragster.
