HEBRON, Ohio – NHRA will showcase the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitors at the second of three JEGS SPORTSnationals events taking place this year when National Trail Raceway hosts the ninth annual JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals, Sept. 20-22.  Featured are drivers in eight NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories, who will vie for valuable points leading to divisional and national championships.

The JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals boasts a guaranteed purse of nearly $65,000 with an additional $300,000 up for grabs in contingency postings.  Competing classes include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  NHRA Lucas Oil Series national event points will be awarded to drivers in all categories except Super Street.  The event will also include the division's popular Top Sportsman and Top Dragster categories that, along with Super Street, will be competing for divisional event points.

While the focus of the event will be on competition in the core NHRA Sportsman categories,
Saturday's action will include class eliminations in Stock and Super Stock, the Top Dragster JEGS Shootout and the Moser Sportsman Shootout.

NHRA reintroduced the SPORTSnationals ten years ago at No Problem Raceway Park in Belle Rose, La., to rave reviews from racers and spectators.  Prior to that, NHRA had hosted the SPORTSnationals from 1974-1986 at a trio of tracks, including Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., (1974-'80; 1985-'86), the old Houston International Raceway (1981-'82) and Lucas Oil Raceway (1983-'84). The JEGS NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals held in March at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La., was the first of the three events planned for the year and is followed by this weekend's JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals and then a third event, the JEGS NHRA Pacific SPORTSnationals at The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Oct. 11-13.

TICKETS: General admission tickets for the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals are $15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday.  Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day and kids 5 and under are admitted free with paid adult.
