National Trail Raceway (Hebron, Ohio) September 20-22
After a multi-year absence, the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals will return to National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio this weekend, Sept. 20-22, 2019.
In 2019, the SPORTSnationals is returning to National Trail Raceway after a three-year absence. The defending event champions are Chase Williams (Comp), Jeff Niceswanger (Super Stock), Dave Walther (Stock), Jeremy Mason (Super Comp), Leo Zynda (Super Gas), Denny Napier (Super Street), Chad Axford (Top Dragster presented by Racing RVs.com), Mark McDonald (Top Sportsman presented by Racing RVs.com), and Derek Dorey (Sportsman Motorcycle).
Each of the defending event winners will be eligible to claim the coveted JEGS Crown trophy should they successfully defend their 2018 titles. The JEGS Crown is a unique handcrafted trophy created by Dan Dreisbach of Naked Sculpture. Since 2005, the trophy has been claimed just once, by Pro Mod racer Mike Ashley.
In addition to National Trailer Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, JEGS SPORTSnationals races have previously been held in Bowling Green, Ky., Indianapolis, Houston, Belle Rose, La., Fontana, Calif., and Las Vegas.
The 2019 event will once again feature the popular Sportsman Motorcycle category to the slate of racing action. Also, both the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster categories will compete in a 32-car field to optimize the competition for racers and fans alike.
The JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals boasts a guaranteed purse of more than $108,000 an all-time SPORTSnationals record. With contingency awards in excess of $275,000 and special bonus races, the total award posting approaches $380,000 – a dramatic increase over the $50,700 posted at the inaugural SPORTSnationals in 1974.
There will also be traditional class eliminations for Super Stock and Stock racers as well as the C-Tech Fast Four Shootout races in Comp, Racing RVs Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, as well as the hotly-contested K&N Super Shootouts in Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street, and the Hemi Shootout for the popular ’68 Hemi Barracudas and ’68 Dodge Darts.
The event will also feature a JEGS Racer Appreciation bonfire and movie open to all competitors and crew members on Friday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m.
