BELLE ROSE, La. – Slate Cummings and Kade Albarado took home trophies for the Stock/Super Stock CIC and the King of the Bayou specialty racers on the final day of the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals at No Problem Raceway.
Cummings, Ponchatoula, La., took on Larry Stewart, Clinton, Miss., posting a 10.138 second lap in his ’00 Corvette to beat out Stewart and his ’10 Challenger while Kade Albarado won the Super Street portion of the King of the Bayou, then posted the best package in the run off for the overall championship.
Albarado’s run off package of 0.123 seconds was enough beat out Ryan Herem and Wes Neely who both broke out in the run off pass. Herem, all the way from Canyon Country, Calif., won over Jonathan Robin, Luling, La., in Super Comp and Wes Neely went 10.010 at 125 mph in his ’67 Camaro to end Mark Skipper Jr.’s day in Super Gas.
Other winners of Sunday’s King of the Bayou Shootouts were Tommy Turner, Naples, Fla., in Top Sportsman covering the quarter mile in 6.650 seconds at 210.57 mph against Keith Raftery, Lake Charles, La.; Samuel Patrick, Plaquemine, La., downed Jeff Holloway, West Monroe, La., in Top Dragster with a pass of 6.779, 193.90; and Peter Pollet, Paulina, La., rode his ’88 Harley-Davison to the winner’s circle in 11.538 seconds at 112.98 mph.
