INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 31) – Team JEGS is off to a strong start at the 58th Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto Plus at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Friday afternoon saw sunny skies and a handful of Team JEGS cars taking to the track and earning solid qualifying spots with two cars advancing in elimination rounds.
Troy Coughlin Jr. is into the third round of Super Comp eliminations after a victory over Alan Kenny. He squares off against Chuck Ridenhour in the next round.
Jeg Coughlin Jr. is running double duty and he's qualified No. 12 in Pro Stock behind the wheel of the JEGS/Mopar Dodge Avenger after a Q1 pass of 6.707 seconds at 207.27 mph.
He is also competing in Stock Eliminator driving the JEGS.com Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. Jeg Jr advanced to the second round of Stock after his opponent Bryan Phillips broke out. Jeg Jr ran a 10.142 at 126.85 mph on a 10.13 dial. Phillips ran a 10.708 at 120.65 mph on a 10.77 dial.
Troy Coughlin is in the No. 6 qualifier in Pro Mod after a Q1 pass of 6.016 seconds at 254.57 mph in his turbocharged JEGS.com '68 Chevy Camaro.
Racing is scheduled to continue on Saturday with more Pro qualifying and Sportsman eliminations.
