There will be a total of four JEGS Mail Order entries in competition this weekend at the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals. Mike Coughlin will in Top Sportsman while nephew Troy Jr. will be racing in Super Comp. In addition, Mike’s son, Clay, will be competing in the Jr. Dragster class.

Mike is a former winner of the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals. He claimed the Super Comp title in 2005, the second year of the event. Mike has also won three times at the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals held each year at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

Mike will be driving his 2013 Chevy Camaro in the Top Sportsman class. The car has already run well into the six second zone at speeds of over 210-mph.

All told, Mike has won 12 NHRA national event titles in three classes; Pro Stock Truck, Super Comp, and Top Sportsman.

Mike is a two-time NHRA North Central Division Top Sportsman champion having won titles in 2007 and 2009 and posted second-place finishes in 2011 and 2012.  In addition to his 12 national event wins, he has 11 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series victories to his credit.

In 2009, a then-19-year old Troy Coughlin Jr. became the first third-generation Coughlin racer to win an NHRA national event title when he won the Super Comp title at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals.

In his brief NHRA racing career, T.J. Coughlin has already won three national event titles including the 2009 Las Vegas event, the 2010 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, and the 2013 Gatornationals. He also has a runner-up finish at the 2011 JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals in Columbus.

Last season, Troy Jr. finished third in the NHRA Super Gas standings out of more than 950 competitors who earned points.

In addition to his success in NHRA racing, Troy Jr. has also won several big E.T. races including a $25,000 top prize at a race in Atco, N.J. in 2011.

The Coughlin Family has claimed at least one NHRA national event win in nine different classes. They are Pro Stock, Pro Stock Truck, Comp, Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Pro Mod, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The Coughlin family has 100 NHRA national event wins.
