John is also a five-time NHRA national event winner. His most recent win came at National Trail Raceway, when he won the Super Stock title in 2003. John also won the special JEGS Top Dragster Shootout race at the 2007 JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals.

Mike will be driving his JEGS.com Chevy Camaro in the Top Sportsman class. The Jerry Haas-built car uses a Sonny Leonard-built engine and is capable of 6.4-second runs at speeds of over 210-mph.

Mike is a two-time Division 3 Top Sportsman champion. He claimed the top spot in 2007 and 2009. He also finished as a runner-up in 2011 and 2012.

With three wins and a runner-up, Mike Coughlin is the most successful racer in the history of the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals. He won the Top Sportsman titles in 2009, 2007 and 2006, and was a runner-up in Super Comp at the inaugural event in 2005.

Collectively, Mike has won 13 NHRA national events during his career and five of those wins have come at his home track, National Trail Raceway.

Mike Coughlin has completed ten Top Sportsman events thus far in 2015 and his best finish is a runner-up at the Division 3 Lucas Oil Series event at Route 66 Raceway. This is the first season that competitors in Top Sportsman are competing for a national championship and Mike is currently ranked No. 23 out of nearly 400 competitors.

Jeg Coughlin Jr. will be racing his Dodge Drag Pak Challenger in Stock and the JEGS team’s Corvette roadster in Super Gas.

Jeg Jr. is a five-time NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007-2008 and 2013. As a sportsman driver, Jeg Jr. also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

Jeg Jr. has won 74 NHRA national event titles and three of them have come at National Trail Raceway. He won his first event there in Super Gas in 1990 and also claimed the Super Stock title in 1996 and the Pro Stock title in 1998.

Including National Trail Raceway, Jeg Jr. has won at least one NHRA national event at 24 different facilities making him the all-time leader in that category. The only current venues on the NHRA Mello Yello tour where he has not won are the tracks in Norwalk and Epping.

Jeg Jr. is one of only four drivers, along with Peter Biondo, Scotty Richardson, and Justin Lamb, to win national event titles in six different categories. He has won in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Top Dragster

Clay and Paige Coughlin are two of the third-generation Coughlin racers that have an interest in drag racing. Clay is mike’s oldest son, while Paige is Troy’s middle daughter. They will race in the Jr. Drag Racing League event in their matching yellow and black JEGS dragsters.

All told, the Coughlin family, John, Troy, Mike, Jeg Jr., and Troy’s son, T.J., have combined to win 12 national events at National Trail Raceway, the team’s longtime home track. They have also tallied six runner-up finishes here.

The Coughlin family, including John, Troy, Mike, Jeg Jr. and Troy Jr. have combined for 107 NHRA national event victories since 1990.
