The JEGS Mail Order team will be represented during this weekend’s Summer Spectacle Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing series event by Mike Coughlin, who will be racing in the Top Dragster class and his niece, Paige Coughlin, who will be racing in Super Comp with her JEGS.com dragster.

The event is the third of seven races in the 2019 North Central Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Mike Coughlin kicked off his 2019 season with back-to-back appearances at the Division 2 event and the 50th annual NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. Mike qualified his supercharged JEGS.com dragster third at both races with a best elapsed time of 6.126.

Mike is a 14-time NHRA national event winner. He has won national event titles in Pro Stock Truck, Super Comp, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster.

Mike has won three of his 12-career NHRA Divisional wins at Lucas Oil Raceway Indianapolis. He won the Top Dragster title in 2017 and won the Top Sportsman class in 2008 and 2011.

Mike began his career in the Super Gas and Super Comp classes in the 1980s and has extensive experience in the heads-up “super classes”

Mike is a two-time Division 3 champion in the Top Sportsman class (2007-2009).

Paige, who recently celebrated her 19th birthday (June 24), made her debut in the Super Comp class in 2017 and has raced sporadically while continuing her education at Miami University of Ohio. Paige’s crew chief is Justin Beaver

So far this season, Paige has raced in two NHRA events with a round four finish at her most recent appearance in Norwalk, Ohio.

Paige is the daughter of three-time NHRA Pro Mod series champion Troy Coughlin, and the younger sister of two-time Division 3 champion Troy Coughlin Jr.

Before tranitioning to the Super Comp class, Paige got her start in racing behind the wheel of a Jr. Dragster.

The Coughlin’s have won Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events in ten different classes, Top Fuel, Pro Comp, Top Alcohol Dragster, Super Eliminator, Comp, Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Dragster, and Top Sportsman.

The Coughlin’s have won Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events at 20 different tracks across North America including races in six of NHRA’s seven geographic divisions. They have not won in Division 6, the Pacific Northwest.

The Coughlin family has also won the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway nine times. In addition to Jeg Jr’s four Pro Stock wins, his brother, Troy, won the Super Gas title in 1991 and Mike collected two wins in the Pro Stock Truck class in 1999 and 2001 and Troy Jr. claimed the Super Comp title in 2010 and Super Gas in 2014. In addition, John Coughlin won the U.S. Nationals as a car owner in 2005 when Brad Plourd drove his JEGS Mail Order dragster to the Super Comp title. 

Collectively, the Coughlin family has appeared in 11 final rounds at the Indianapolis Lucas Oil Series event, and has garnered nine wins. All told, the Coughlin family has won 60 Lucas Oil Series divisional races.

Jeg Coughlin Sr., Jeg Coughlin Jr., and John Coughlin have each won four North Central Division season championships while Mike Coughlin and Troy Coughlin Jr. have two each for a total of 16. 

Family patriarch Jeg Coughlin Sr. won his first Lucas Oil Series event when he claimed the Super Eliminator title at Windsor Dragway in Windsor, Ontario in 1969.
