Houston Raceway Park
Baytown, Texas (April 9-11)

Jeg Coughlin enters this week’s NHRA O’Reilly Spring Nationals as the eighth-ranked driver in the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock standings. At the most recent event in Concord, N.C., Jeg qualified his JEGS.com Cobalt in the top spot with a career-best 6.520-second elapsed time but was unable to advance past the opening round.

Jeg earned his first Pro Stock victory at Houston Raceway Park in 1997 in just his second start. Coughlin qualified 14th at that race and defeated Mark Osborne in the final round.

All told, Jeg has won four times in Houston including the Pro Stock titles in 1997, 1998 and 2000. As a sportsman racer, he also won the Super Stock title at the 1994 event.

In 15 career appearances at Houston Raceway Park, Jeg has a round win record of 26-12 in Pro Stock competition.

Jeg Coughlin is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

In 2009, Jeg enjoyed one of his best years as a professional racer winning seven of 23 events and reaching the final round in two others. He compiled a round-win record of 50-17, the second best record in the class.

With 48 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (96), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (60) have more titles.

Jeg is ranked No. 4 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 26. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.

In 264 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 77 times, recording 48 wins. Including his 14 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 62 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg has appeared in 95 final rounds, 77 as a professional and 18 as a sportsman racer.

During his Pro Stock career, Jeg has recorded 439 round wins while incurring just 203 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 60 times.

The O’Reilly Spring Nationals will be the second stop on the 10-race Get Screened America Pro Mod tour. Jeg’s brother, Troy, will be racing his JEGS.com Camaro in the Pro Mod class. At the season-opening event in Gainesville, Troy qualified 11th out of 27 entries with a 5.99 elapsed time. Troy is the reigning NMCA Pro Street Champion.

Troy Coughlin has raced at Houston Raceway Park 12 times, 11 in Pro Stock and once in Pro Mod. Troy’s best finish is a semifinal in 1997.

The Houston field will also include Jeg’s fiancée Samantha Kenny, who will be driving her JEGS.com dragster in the Super Comp class. Last year, Samantha won the Super Comp title at the Norwalk event. Her father, Alan, and brother, Jason, are also NHRA national event champions.

In Houston, the JEGS team will continue to promote the JEGS “Win this Car” contest, a special promotion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JEGS Mail Order. As part of the promotion, one lucky JEGS fans will win a yellow and black 2010 Chevy Camaro.
