Saturday the racing action starts with the Moser Engineering Main Event. The Main Event features 1/8th mile bracket racing for door cars only (NO DRAGSTERS) and a guaranteed $7500 winner’s purse. Payback reaches 4th round losers.
Once the main event is in the books and a champion is crowned, I-57 Dragstrip will host a pair of Saturday night bonus events. The first, the Fab Shop Quick 16, will feature the fastest 16 door cars on the grounds, as competitors vie for the $1,000 winner’s purse and a complimentary set of custom built Pro-Stock style headers courtesy of The Fab Shop!
In addition to the Fab Shop Quick 16, Saturday night will also bring the highly anticipated Ohlins King of Illinois Hi-Roller Shootout. This race is not for the weak of heart: entry is $500. The race pays back 100% of the entry fees, WINNER TAKE ALL. With as few as 16 entrants, the Ohlins King of Illinois could be the richest event of the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout weekend. In addition to the pile of cash, the Hi-Roller champion also takes home a pair of Ohlins LMP Series Shocks courtesy of Dixie Racing Products!
Sunday, the event wraps up with BRODIX Cylinder Heads Main Event, a replica of the previous day’s $7500-to-win tilt. Weekend entry for the main event races is $275, and buy backs will be available first round only for $75.
All purses are 100% guaranteed by event promoters Scott Bailey and Luke Bogacki, but the great cash prizes are just the beginning. In addition to a cash purse of over $30,000, the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout features more than $30,000 in prizes that go straight to the competitors! A number of sponsors have supported the event, which features a wide array of “Door” Prizes. These prizes will be awarded randomly to competitors who lose in the second or third round of competition.
In addition to the “Door” Prizes, the event features several specialty awards for everything from the Todd’s Extreme Paint “Best Appearing Car” to the FTI “Wheelie Wagon Award” (for the best wheelstand of the event). Additional prizes include the Mickey Thompson Tires “Long Tow” award, several “Hard Luck” awards, and a “Bottom Bulb Bonus” for the racer who advances deepest in eliminations without the aid of a delay box.
Moser Engineering, BRODIX Cylinder Heads, The Fab Shop, Ohlins Shocks, and Dixie Racing Products pitch in additional cash and products for event winners, while K&N and ISC Racers Tape have supplied event promoters with Wrench-Off Oil Filters and ISC Racers Tape for all competitors who are forced to buy back into competition!
Gates open for parking at noon on Friday and will remain open all night. Saturday’s main event kicks off with time trials at 10:00AM, and eliminations at 1:30. Sunday, racing concludes with a single time trial at 10:00AM, followed immediately by the opening round of the Main Event. The JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout is one event that door car competitors throughout the central United States simply will not want to miss!
