Troy Coughlin
Saturday Qualifying Summary
Troy Coughlin entered the final day of qualifying determined on breaking into the quick-16 from the No. 19 position. The Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier laid down an impressive run of 6.831 at 201.88 mph. The run was solid enough to move Coughlin into the No. 10 spot.
“We were very prepared and felt comfortable with the changes we made to our set up for the third qualifying,” said Coughlin. “To be outside looking in and make the kind of jump we did into the field says a lot about our team. The guys did a great job of working together to get the job done when we had to.”
In the second session Troy ran 6.878 at 201.70 mph. The run was not an improvement and the 10-year Pro Stock veteran landed in the No. 10 qualifying position for race day.
“In the final session the conditions were pretty close to what we will see on race day,” stated Coughlin. “Our goal was to be on the aggressive side and see what the track could handle. We learned a lot from our final qualifying run that we will use tomorrow (Sunday). It feels good to see our entire program going in the right direction and see everyone’s hard work pay off.”
Troy Coughlin will face off against “rookie” and fellow Ohio Pro Stock driver Dave Connolly in the opening round.
