In Pro Mod, Troy Coughlin fought through a 6.526 at 217.28 mph to earn the final spot in the top half of the 16-car AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge field. On paper, Troy’s pass makes him a favorite to take out first-round opponent Josh Hernandez, who ran a ninth-best 6.602 at 197.25 mph, but the elder Coughlin knows Sunday’s first round will be a crap-shoot with everyone just working off one pass worth of data.
“The best thing is that we’re all in the same boat,” Troy said. “Of course, you want to make all your passes, not only to tune your car up but to give all these great fans a real show, but we didn’t get the chance. I’m glad the forecast for tomorrow looks good and if any team can shine with just one run in the books, it’s Gotham City Racing.”
