Friday Qualifying Summary

Troy Coughlin is sitting in the No. 20 position after two of the four scheduled qualifying sessions for the NHRA O’Reilly Summer Nationals.

The Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier driven by Troy Coughlin posted a run of 6.957 at 199.35 mph to start the weekend. Coughlin finished the session sitting in the No. 18 spot.

“The car just didn’t respond to the set up in the first session,” stated Coughlin. “The car wanted to drive to the right all the way down the track. We know what adjustments we need to make to get the car to go straight and after the run we know where we need to improve on the track. “

In the second session the team was determined to improve and make a jump up into the field after a disappointing opening run. The second run was an improvement for Coughlin. He ran a 6.939 at 199.23 mph and ended up in the No. 20 position.

“We are moving in the right direction and have improved with each run,” commented Coughlin. “The small changes we are making are measurable and should pay off tomorrow when we hit the track again.”

There are two remaining qualifying sessions that will be held tomorrow (Saturday) before the field is set for race day. The sessions are scheduled for 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM respectively.
