Team JEG’S – Pro Stock
Troy Coughlin
Friday Qualifying Summary

Troy Coughlin ended the first of two scheduled days of qualifying sitting in the No. 10 position.

In the first qualifying session Coughlin opened the weekend by running a 6.799 at 202.52 mph in his Jeg’s Mail Order Chevy Cavalier. The 39-year old second-generation driver sat in the No. 1 spot for most of the session and showed his peers that he would be a threat to deal with this weekend. By the end of the session the Ohio native slipped to the No. 12 spot.

“It felt great to start the weekend making a strong run in the opening qualifying session,” said Coughlin. “Pro Stock is as competitive as it gets and you have to start the weekend off going in the right direction. To have good data going into the second session is a real plus and is where you have to be as a team. It feels good to not be starting the weekend behind the eight ball.”

The conditions during the second qualifying session were about 400-feet better then the opening session. Coughlin posted a run of 6.745 at 204.42 mph during the second qualifying session. The run was an improvement and he moved up to the No. 10 slot.

“We are making small changes with each run,” stated Coughlin. “We are going in the right direction and we should see some of the same results again tomorrow (Saturday).”
