Team JEG’S – Pro Stock
Troy Coughlin
Saturday Qualifying Summary

Troy Coughlin started the final day of qualifying looking to break into the quick-16 qualifying positions. He started off sitting in the No. 19 spot with a weekend best run of 6.861 at 201.52 mph.

In the third qualifying session Troy did not improve. He posted a run of 6.882 at 201.76 mph. The JEG’S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier ran into problems with wheel speed launching from the starting line, which hurt the performance down track.

Troy rolled into the final qualifying session want to break into the quick-16. The JEG’S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier posted a weekend best run of 6.846 at 202.15 mph. He was temporarily in the No. 16 position before eventually being bumped out. Troy ultimately landed in the No. 18 position and missed the field by .018 seconds.

“Believe it or not – we learned something on that run,” explained Troy with a smile. “We took a hard look at the differences between the construction of my car and my brother Jeg’s Chevy Cavalier. The direction we went was pretty different and it was the best the car has responded all weekend. It’s a disappointment not to be in the show after posting a runner up finish here at this event last year. But, I know after the changes we made in the final qualifying session we should be back on track at the Mac Tools Gatornationals.”
