DAYTONA, Fla. (Feb. 4) — NASCAR favorite Kenny Wallace is off to a great start representing JEGS High Performance Mail Order in activities surrounding the upcoming Daytona 500. Once again in 2009, Wallace will banner the familiar yellow and black JEGS logo at 40-plus Modified dirt track races around the country. He’ll also continue to wear JEGS-branded apparel in his analyst’s role on a variety of SPEED TV programs supporting the network’s extensive NASCAR coverage.

“The JEGS crew is out in full force down here in Florida,” Wallace said. “We couldn’t have asked for a better start with the Modified car. We fired it up last weekend in Ocala and won the Friday heat race we were in and the A Main that night. The next day we won our heat race again and then came in second in the Main. That made us the overall champions for the weekend.

“We left to head to Volusia Speedway Park by Daytona but before we left Ocala, we took my buddy Woody’s (Woodruff’s) advice and visited Don Garlits’ Drag Racing Museum. What a neat place. They recognized me in there and we had a real nice visit. Of course, we all had our JEGS shirts on.

“We got to Volusia and the JEGS car was still running great. There were 82 cars trying to earn a spot in a 28-car field so we knew we couldn’t mess around. My guys gave me an awesome tune-up again and we were quick of the race, won our heat, and came in second place again in the Main. Most of those guys run more than 100 races a year so it means a lot to keep up with them.”

As NASCAR’s biggest race approaches, Wallace will soon have to turn in his helmet and don a headset as SPEED TV ramps up its programming. But he’s been so pleased with the results of the JEGS Modified car that it will continue to run.

“While I’m doing my TV stuff, we’re going to run the car with one of my longtime crewmen, Billy Smith, behind the wheel,” Wallace said. “Billy’s earned his chance and he’s done a great job driving around his home in Missouri. He’ll represent JEGS real well out there.

“I’m excited for this season. Our big race will be the Prelude to the Dream event Tony Stewart puts on. We won that thing in 2005 and came in fourth last year so we’ve had some success there, which is big because that race is on pay-per-view and a ton of fans are watching. It’s a huge deal.

“We just want to do right by JEGS because they’ve been so good to us. It’s a great relationship and I’m really happy we’re staying together in 2009.”
